Andries Van Onck studies at Ulm’s Hochschule für Gestaltungunder Tomas Maldonado and Max Bill. In 1959 he is in Italy collaborating with Ettore Sottsass on Olivetti’s pioneering Elea 9003 electronic computer project. He opens his own studio in 1965 and in 1972 involves Hiroko Takeda, a designer who graduates in Tokyo in 1968.

Along with Van Onck and Takeda’s numerous designs for Ave, Magis, Krups, Philips, and Zanussi, there are their cardboard furniture for the UPIM department store (1969), tableware for Serafino Zani (1991), and the long-selling Tiramisù folding ladder (1991) by Kartell.
Van Onck also writes design theory and teaches at Rome’s ISIA, and Milan’s Design Department.
